Introduction

If you’ve done any work with QLab, you can see how quickly and easily you can create simple sound effects for live performances and events. I would guess that you can also see how things can get really complex really quickly. In my work as a sound designer it’s not uncommon for even a simple play to have 1,000 or more cues building blocks. So that I can concentrate on my art, it’s vitally important that I stay organized with my tools.

In this chapter, through the creation of soundscapes which are (the environmental sounds that play underneath a scene in a movie or play), we’ll talk about the ways QLab helps keep your design clean and creates an incredible amount of power and flexibility.
