Track Effects
Using our gate, we’ve lost some of the natural reverberation in the dog barking. Let’s add it back.
- Start by selecting our Dog Barking track, then clicking on the Effects Rack Panel (same dock as the File Panel)
- Make sure we’ve selected Track Effects rather than Clip Effects. This will add our effects to any block currently in the track or added in the future. Selecting clip will make the effect stay with the selected clip.
- Add a new effect to the track and use Reverb > Studio Reverb
- When the window pops up (or double click the effect if you need to re-open the window), select Vocal Reverb (small)
- This will give a small, subtle amount of reverberation to the sound. Try listening to just this track by soloing it.
Because you’re using the effect rack, it’s non-destructive to the original audio file. This means that if you want to change the amount of reverberation after the fact (i.e. After listening to it in the theatre) you still can go back to square one!
