Time and Pitch

This doesn’t quite work for me, the chirps aren’t high enough. So undo the mix paste and return to the chirps file.

1. Select the entire file and apply a Stretch … Effects > Time and Pitch > Stretch and Pitch
   

2. Do not check the “Lock Stretch and Pitch Shift” toggle. This will cause a “resample” of the file. Sometimes when changing just the Time or Pitch, the effect can sound digitized (try it out!), but if we Resample, it’s like playing a record faster or slower. I think here we want them separate (or to keep the original length of the file) and we’re fine with digitized audio for our aliens.
3. Now adjust the pitch by 6 Semitones, or 6 half steps.
   
4. Apply the effect
5. Now copy this on top of the other sound; however, note that the times are no longer the same. This isn’t a huge deal, so simply place your Play Head at about 2.5 seconds into our low file, then repeat our Mix Paste.

This is all very weird.
And very fun.
