Mute

If you haven’t already, start by downloading the sound effects we’ll use in this worksheet by downloading the ZIP file here.

Once downloaded, load all the files into Audition and open “MachineGunShell.wav”. Use the Cactus Wren if you find gun shots triggering.

1. Select the second of four machine gun shots. We want to silence it; losing the shot, but keeping the time.
2. We can mute this section of audio from the Effects menu … Effects > Silence
   
   
3. Play the file. There seems to be a noticeable cutoff at the end of the shell drop

4. Select the shell drop at the end of the first machine gun shot (and the silence afterwards)
   
5. Apply a slight reverb (i.e. Room Ambience)

Now it is less noticeable that we cut out a portion
