Chorus
I need a alien spaceship sound for the our community theatre production of Red, White & Blain. Let’s start with something organic, yet patterned. Again, it’s nice to take a natural sound and make it into something else, we tend to respond better than we do to a completely computer generated sound.
Open the “Water Pour.wav” file
- Let’s use the Chorus tool found under the effects menu … Effects > Modulation > Chorus
- Chorus can often be used to make it sound like there is more than one of something, but rarely sounds organic.
It’s better used as an guitar effect or an interesting sound effect enhancer. We’ll use it for our aliens. - Select the preset “Robotic Bee Attack”.
CAREFUL! This can create some sudden loud sounds, so perhaps don’t use headphones here.
Now play around with the characteristics until you’re happy and apply the effect.
- That did some crazy stuff and created some odd spikes. Use your “Hard Limiter” to limit the sounds to a max amplitude of -6dB. Perhaps use a “Boost Input By” of 20dB? This should even out the body of the audio with the spikes.
