The Undo Command
Unlike me, you’re probably perfect, you never make a mistake, without fault, beyond reproach. That’s who you are, right? Well … for the rest of us, the UNDO command is a beautiful gift to humanity.
So, if you mess something up – maybe you accidentally record over a cue, or deleted something – I would first tell you not to fret, don’t panic, stop crying! You already made artistic decisions once, and those decisions you made were the hardest part, much more difficult than pressing buttons. I would also tell you that often times recreating those choices on stage is a much faster process the second (or third) time around. Just breathe and do it again. This is true with papers for class or for emails. And this is true with the light board. We’ve all been there. Don’t fret.
With that said, EOS has an Undo button.
Let’s try it out. Start by performing the following commands.
- Channel 1 at 10
- Channel 2 at 20
- Channel 3 + 5 at 40
- Channel 4 + 6 at 60
- Channel 7 – 9 at Full
- Record Cue 3
- Record Cue 2
Umm. Wait a second. This was a horrible idea. It looks okay, but it isn’t what we meant to do.
So let’s step it back by pressing the [Undo] button or Ctrl+X on your computer keyboard (why isn’t it Ctrl+Z ? … I have no idea … and find it quite frustrating). After you press the button, you’ll see the CIA pop up with a list of recent commands
The line highlighted in Yellow is the first command you want to undo. We want to step it back all the way, so click on the command “Chan 1 @ 10”, which will highlight all the commands below it.
Press [Enter] to commit to the Undo command. EOS will warn you that you’re about to Undo multiple commands. Are you sure?
Press [Enter] again to confirm. Great. But. Maybe. Not. Undo is still selected …. which is good …. because we now have an opportunity to hit Redo.
Let’s Redo all those actions by clicking on the [Redo] button and pressing [Enter]. Great. Let’s just keep this. Sorry I’m so wishy washy.
Finally, you can clear the CIA popup by clearing the command line, or [Shift+Clear].
