Save As a File
The EOS ability to version files is great – but sometimes you might still want to Save As. For example, I’ll regularly save a show file with the word “FINAL” at the end when opening a production. Or I like to create templates for the spaces I work in with house lights already connected and my preferences already setup. If you’re using a template file, the very first thing you should do is to Save As; replacing text such as “MASTER TEMPLATE” with your name. To save a file as a new name, select the Save As option from the File menu in the CIA. Navigate to the location in which you would like to save your file and double click that folder. Here, for example, I’ll double click the folder “Show File Archive”
After you double click the folder, you’ll be prompted to confirm that this is what you want to do. Simply press [OK]. Then you’ll be asked to name the file. EOS will automatically fill in the current name. Press Delete or Backspace to get rid of text you don’t want and simply type to add the text you do want.
Side note … If you press backspace to clear out the entire name and then press it one more time, EOS will cancel the Save As command. So don’t get too button happy when pressing that key.
Once you’re satisfied with your name (and I hope you like your name), press the [Enter] key to finalize the Save As process. You’ll see EOS process and then return you to the CIA.
