Saving and Opening Workspaces
Saving and Opening a Workspace (a doucment) in QLab works just like saving and opening a document in any other application. So if ever you’ve used a computer, you should just fine here.
Currently here I have QLab open and I want to create a new document or “Workspace”. To do this, like any other Mac application, I would go to File / New Workspace. This will create a new, blank workspace utilizing the default template. I could of course select New From Template if I wanted to utilize a template other than the default.
Saving is just as simple. File / Save As to save the workspace for the first time. And by the way, I like to say this “Save Early Save Often”. Losing work because you weren’t mindful about saving is the worst. It makes you want to punch yourself in the face. So do your face a favor and save right away when you open a new document.
If you’re not a Mac native, you might be tripped up by the Save Window. This little arrow will expand the Save As Dialogue window to give you more options for location and allow you to navigate around your computer.
Opening a file works just the same as any other. File / Open and navigate through your finder to open your workspace. And of course as is with any other type of document on a Mac, double clicking the Workspace itself will open it directly in QLab.
And finally, QLab keeps a list of recently opened Workspaces that can either be accessed here or in the launcher window.
For more on working with templates, check out also this course.
Assignment:
Create a new workspace. Save it. Close QLab. Open your workspace.
