The Welcome Screen
When you open QLab you’ll be greeted by the welcome screen. From here you can open recent QLab files, called “Workspaces”, you can manage your purchased Licenses (which allow you to unlock some of QLab’s more advanced features), and you can also create a new workspace using a Template.
Templates are workspaces that are meant to retain all of your favorite settings. You can create a blank workspace that is pre-made for a specific venue, a workspace that has cue preferences set just the way you like it, or I like to have pre-made cue sequences to showcase as examples; for example, a pre-show checklist for a board operator. It’s the same every single show, why make it from scratch?
I’d like to also note that you can change the way QLab opens on a specific computer. If, for example, your computer lives in a booth and you want to remove any confusion for an operator, you can set the QLab preferences to automatically open the previously opened Workspace. There are of course other options to meet your workflow and your needs best.
