ETC EOS Light Boards
There are a number of different brands, types, and styles of light boards out there. Some are great for the theatre, some for smaller venues, some for live concerts and events, some with tactile faders, some just with buttons, some are even purely software based and only exist on a computer.
ETC is an incredibly common brand of lightboard, found in high schools, community theatres, colleges and universities, professional houses, churches, and more; so we’re choosing to sink our time in training for their boards. But many of these techniques can easily translate to other brands.
Now, ETC has several different lines of lightboards. Many of the concepts you’ll learn here can track to their other lines of consoles, but this series is specifically geared to the EOS family of lightboards, meaning the EOS, GIO, ION, Nomad, and the Element.
If you own one of these types of boards, what you’re about to see should look very familiar and I hope it’s incredibly useful.
But first? Some vocab.
Per usual, if you’re familiar with a term, skip ahead.
